Project Description

Tony Riviera
Meet Anthony Riviera
Cumberland County Clean Communities Coordinator since 2013.
What is your biggest challenge as a coordinator?
How do I get through to the people who just don’t seem to care?  How do I get them to stop littering… or even just to litter less?!!!
What Clean Communities project is the most memorable form this past year?
We have revamped the way that Cumberland County’s Adopt-A-Roadprogram is managed and administered.  We worked with Pilot Light Studios (www.PilotLightStudios.com) to create an online mapping system from the ground up.  This interface brings accountability and recognition to the Adopt-A-Road process.  Anyone can go online and see who has adopted a stretch of highway and what areas are available.  We have also included an automated reminder to ease the administrative workload.  But one of the best details is the ease of exporting the details for the year end reports.  You can check it out at: https://cumberland.adopt-a-road.com
How did you introduce the program to your community?
We did a soft launch in May of 2015.   The official debut was March of 2016 with press releases in both digital & print.  https://snjtoday.com/county-revises-adopt-a-road-program987987/
